If you missed class, or are freaking out, here is a brief--very brief--help for you. This is a made-up outline for an essay about this.
Thesis: In "The Epic of Gilgamesh" and "The Road Not Taken" ________________________________ (bid idea goes here) is shown to be true.
Big idea = something about the human condition that is true in Gilgamesh: like, we all die, but want to be remembered--or something.
Intro - two or three sentences about the topic, lead into thesis statement.
you need 6 CDs (so 6 to 7 chunks total) in your essay. You decide how.
BP1 - what happens in the beginning of G (two CDs and 4cms) and what that shows about the topic
BP2 - what happens in the middle of G (two CDs and 4cms) and what that shows about the topic
BP3 - what happens in the end of G (two to three CDs and 4-6cms) and what that shows about the topic
Somewhere make one connection to the poem/song/whatever you are using.
Conclusion: sum it up. Say what it shows about the human condition.
