Fairy Tales here
Your task over break is to complete your presentation and notes. You will have about 10-15 minutes to meet with your group on Monday.
Click on the link and read The Robber Bridegroom--a Grimm Fairy tale.
Hello folks! Your task today is the timed write. Please read the instructions below!
PROMPT: How do two texts and one work of art show Existentialism, Absurdism, or Surrealism.
BRING NOTES, PRINT YOUR ART, BRING IPODS, BRING PEN (no pink or red!), BRING LINED PAPER!
The Myth of Sisyphus, Albert Camus
The Stranger, Albert Camus
The Nose, Nikolai Gogol
The Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka
“What is Reality,” Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow
"Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” (may be used as either a text, or a work of art)
“The Seventh Seal” – excerpt of playing chess with death Salvador Dali Francis Bacon Alberto Giacometti Anton Kiefer M. C. Escher Marcel Duchamp Robert Raushenberg Max Ernst Edvard Munch
Your CDs (concrete details, facts, evidence) will be paraphrase this time. You must first describe the thing before you can discuss it. What happened? What is in the picture? What colors are used? How are things presented? What is the action in the film? What do people do/say? How do they say it?
Your 1st paragraph will be the Thesis!
Then, indent and start your essay.
I recommend (remember, recommend actually means, "you should") connect the texts and art not only to the philosophy you have chosen, but also to the other texts. Use transitions. Make connections.
Work in your groups to prepare for group presentation when we return from break.
Figure out how you will complete the task.
HW - figure out the subjects for your in-class essay tomorrow. If you need to see the work of art you are incorporating into your essay, you should print that and bring it to class.

Today, you will turn in the questions from yesterday's class, as well as the journal entries from part II of The Metamorphosis.
Then, you will work in your discussion groups to read the text OUT LOUD (yes, really. Take turns please). When you are done reading part III, please prepare for discussion groups tomorrow. You should walk out of class ready to start discussion. If you don't, then your homework is to get ready!
Your vocab test is being delayed, as I have not returned your vocabulary assignments to you.
