On Thursday, you wrote your essay on the book Their Eyes Were Watching God.
Make this up today after school if you were absent.
Friday, we'll start watching some film as literature. You'll be revisiting the romantic era of literature, doing some reflection on my teaching over the year, and I'll be starting to tackle the 200 essays I have left to grade...Classwork: Last Points Opportunity! - collect lines from this film, as well as answering the questions.
HW - Student Survey (do not put your name on this unless you want to do so)--you'll have to wave the completed survey at me in order to get the points.
I'm collecting packets today, if you didn't already turn them in. Please write how many discussions your group scheduled on the front of the packet.
Also, attach your calendar.
We'll watch the rest of Their Eyes Were Watching God
Tomorrow, you will have one class period to respond to an essay question. That is the only time you will have. Because this is a timed-write, I suggest making your introduction paragraph just a thorough thesis statement.
BRING PAPER AND PEN (no colored pens, black or blue ink only. no mechanical pencils.)
Finish up discussion. We'll watch film if time. Or, perhaps, we'll go ahead and work on theme/topic and we'll postpone the film until tomorrow. We shall see.
Let's see how the day goes.
Deal? See yesterday's post for the list of what you need in your packets.
Final discussion day
Questions are linked here.
We'll chat about Maslow's Heirarchy...
And, then you'll get to work.
Today, you worked. Some of you are done reading and discussing to date, so you worked on a found poetry assignment linked here.
If you finished that, read the Afterword.
Today, we worked. Then we watched 15 minutes of the film.
Link: We'll listen to this blurb about one of the most awesome women ever:
We'll be reading and annotating her poem: "Still I Rise", and you'll take a look at "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" (the poem, not the novel, hence the quotation marks).
You'll meet in your groups and do your thing.
Tomorrow, we'll watch 15 minutes of the film if that works for you. We'll do that each day that works for you this week.
We'll watch little snippets of the film.
You'll have your planned time to work on discussion, reading and prep.
This will continue. Check with your groups today as to where you need to be by Monday. Get extra discussion role sheets if you need them.
